This is kind of the shot I wanted, just wished the winds would have completely died so I could get some glass reflections off the calm foreground waters. The silhouette of the couple was a added bonus, I met them on the beach as they took turns taking pictures of themselves with their phone. I asked if they wanted me to take their picture together, they were happy. I hastily walked back to this spot & fortunately the couple waited long enough for me to grab this shot.
I posted this image on Instagram & Facebook on Thursday morning & I received many compliments on the reflections of the clouds on the water. Sorry to burst your bubble but , as I said earlier it was way too windy for the water to be glass. So I took a long exposure to flatten out the water as much as I could. Did my edits in Lightroom & sent it to Photoshop. I duplicated the layer, rotated the image 180 degrees & flipped it horizontally. I also blurred the layer just slightly & lowered the opacity. Next I added a layer mask to mask out everything above the horizon & part of the mid lower sides & there you go. A well know photographer once said a good photographer needs to learn how to sell the fake.
It's ALOHA FRIDAY & the start of a NEW YEAR WEEKEND! Have a SAFE & GREAT Happy New Year everyone!!!
