Was kind of an odd morning, I actually left the house not knowing exactly where I was going to shoot from. As I came to a stop at the end of the street, should I turn right & head on over to the freeway & venture to the windward side? Or do I turn left & head on down to the east side? Earlier I had checked my weather app & there was minimal cloud cover so I I sat there at the stop sign, I decided to go left & take a shorter dive & hit Sandy's. My reasoning was with a very low tide & minimal cloud structure I didn't want to drive too far to catch an amazing sunrise with no cloud character.
As I came closer to Sandy Beach Park I pulled in & parked in the usual spot & got out of the car to start prepping my gear & as I mounted my camera onto the tripod something told me to drive down to the other end of the beach. I threw my gear into the back seat & proceeded down to the opposite end.
I've shot this location before but have never seen it with the tides so low. Many of the rocks that were submerged under water were now exposed. There was a high surf warning in effect so I did take precautions as to how far I ventured towards the edge of the shoreline. There were some large swells coming in, not very consistent but it came up over my knees.
Just like how the morning started, without direction I was have trouble with my composition. Funny thing is that I took only 2 shots from this composition & didn't see it, so I moved & recomposed. When I got home & saw it on my big monitor my eyes lit up, this was the shot of the morning!
Aloha a hui hou my friends!
