AUTOFOCUS...02.16.19

March 1, 2019

My eyes aren’t what they used to be & in the past, I’ve relied heavily on my camera's autofocus but within the last year or so, I’ve forced myself to start manual focusing & have noticed a big change in how sharp my images have been in my seascapes. So who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!?! Haha! However, when I’m shooting waves, for myself it’s impossible to manual focus on an incoming wave as I track it through my lens. So different scenarios require different techniques.

The thing is that I wear glasses but when I shoot I don’t wear them, for 1 reason, the sea spray will fog up my glasses & have gotten tired of cleaning the lens every 2 minutes. I’ve adjusted my cameras diopter so when looking through the EVF everything is in perfect focus. I’ve had to change from looking at my back LCD to seeing through my EVF viewfinder to make sure that I’ve locked focus.

The downside to not wearing my glasses while I’m shooting is that when a friend approaches me or are in the distance & waves at me, I have no idea who they are until they come closer! So I’m not being stuck up when I don’t wave back, I just can see your face! Haha!

It’s Aloha Friday, have a safe & wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Aloha a hui hou my friends!
